About

For nearly two decades, company executives and managers, as well as politicians, priests, and pastors have invited Steve to speak and coach in one-on-one settings and in small and large group settings, too.  Steve’s favorite topics are leadership, personal and professional development, success in business and life, the nurture and care of one’s soul, interfaith and spirituality, as well as generosity in giving and living.

Steve is an Adjunct Professor of Communication at the University of Kentucky. He teaches college students The Art of Persuasive Speaking.  He holds a doctorate from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  And, as a Founder’s Circle Member on the John Maxwell Team of Professional Speakers, Coaches, and Trainers he brings to executives, professional leaders, and audiences more than thirty years experience as a successful leader, coach, and speaker.

Whether a company meeting, charitable event or keynote address, motivational seminar or congregational setting, Steve’s talks are candid, but always uplifting and motivating, filled with stories and humor, while respectful of all cultures, races, and faith traditions. He inspires people just like you…

To Master the Art of Leadership, to Learn the Laws of Success, to Live the Life of Your Dreams, and Leave a Legacy that Makes a Difference in the World

Dr. McSwain is the author of three books and is currently writing his fourth.  He is a regular contributor to the Washington Post and the Huffington Post.  His most recent award-winning book, The Enoch Factor: The Sacred Art of Knowing God (June 2010, Smyth & Helwys) was one of two finalist in the “Most Inspirational Book” category with the IndieBook Awards and the Global Book Expo in New York City (May, 2011). It is a riveting explanation of just how organized religion too frequently subverts an authentic spiritual life.

“Religion,” says McSwain “in virtually every expression, is gravely ill. It is lost in a kind of madness where religions compete with each other, create conflict, fuel hatred, and incite violence in varying degrees throughout the world.

Furthermore, most religions saddle followers with a catalogue of ‘do’s and ‘don’ts’ as onerous as the proverbial Sears catalogue. If humanity is to survive, all religions must move beyond the insanity of thinking, ‘We’re right; You’re wrong!’ ‘We’re in; You’re out!’ ‘We’re the chosen ones, you’re not!”

Steve’s book The Giving Myths has been widely regarded by professionals, religious leaders, philanthropists, entrepreneurs and community leaders as a thought-provoking and inspiring book on compassion and generosity. While most books on generosity simply rehash the same worn-out methodology and teaching, The Giving Myths is fresh and creative. It takes the issue of generosity straight to its Source, while debunking the most common myths about giving. It guides readers on an inner journey of emotional/spiritual transformation, which McSwain believes is the secret to becoming a truly generous person. Since its publication, Dr. McSwain has had dozens of radio and television appearances and numerous invitations to host seminars, conferences, and to give talks on the subject, “Giving, then Getting the Life You’ve Always Wanted.”

Dr. McSwain’s Mantra for Life is:

“Receive everything as a gift to you;

Learn from everything as your gift to yourself;

Live what you learn as your gift to the world.”

Steve holds a doctorate in ministry and, prior to becoming an executive coach and professional speaker, he was the senior minister in some of America’s largest churches. For the last two decades, he has been crisscrossing the country speaking and coaching executives and professionals, business, community, and religious leaders with such inspiring words as…

Achieve your dreams of life;
Aspire to live an abundant and generous life; and,
Awaken your leadership potential and fulfill your destiny”
