Don't make knowing God into a problem, a struggle. My recommendation is that you simply let go of expectations regarding an awakening and proceed along the spiritual path as you are, recognizing that an awakening has happened already. It occurs for people differently and sometimes accompanied, although not always, by feelings of ecstasy and joy. You are an awakened soul.

While I know the joy and energy I felt the day "received" the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues (God simply obliged my childlike faith and curiosity), what you describe has happened in fleeting moments but not in a "feeling" that stays. Maybe it is like that strange sleep/wakeful state...you know, where you are asleep but you find yourself struggling to wake up with a fear that if you simply let go of the struggle and let yourself fall back to sleep, you will never wake up...oh, maybe you have never experienced that.

I want that kind of awakening. I want that peace and calm to be my "state of being", not just the occasional spiritual high.
